Press Release Body = ThoughtWorks, Inc., a global information technology professional services firm, today announced that its current President, Trevor Mather, has also been appointed Chief Executive Officer. Mather succeeds Roy Singham, the company's founder, who remains Executive Chairman and a full-time employee, involved in the business day-to-day though increasingly focused on new and emerging technologies.
"Since Trevor joined ThoughtWorks six years ago, his leadership has been a driving force behind our success and growth," said Singham, 52. "From building our UK operations into a market leader during the worst period in the history of the IT services industry to overseeing our growth into a transnational company, Trevor has demonstrated an invaluable combination of vision, energy, and practical ability to deliver." Headquartered in Chicago, ThoughtWorks has 800 professionals serving clients around the world.
"I founded ThoughtWorks 14 years ago to become a home for the best and brightest knowledge workers in the world. We're revolutionizing corporate IT, have become the industry leader in practical innovation, and we've built a track record of repeatedly delivering value to our customers. Trevor's personal integrity and absolute focus on doing the right thing by our customers has given me confidence that it's the right time for this move. It also allows me to focus on my passion - driving step changes in the way IT delivers value to business through the use of new and emerging technologies - while supporting Trevor and the operation of our business." Singham added.
Mather, 39, joined ThoughtWorks in 2001 as Managing Director of ThoughtWorks LTD in the United Kingdom. He built the UK business to over 100 people in two years and was named President and Chief Operating Officer in 2004. In that role, he drove the construction of ThoughtWorks' global delivery model with a focus on building its India operations.
"I've been privileged to learn from a true visionary and entrepreneur like Roy," said Mather. "We have a fantastic opportunity in front of us to be the leading mid-sized IT services firm in the world. We're seeing explosive growth in distributed and offshore work and in work with companies looking to completely transform their software delivery capabilities. We stand out in the marketplace because of our assured global delivery expertise, our commitment to local client service, and our appetite to share risk and reward with our customers. I'm confident the best is yet to come."
Mather\'s nearly 20 years of professional IT consulting experience include a 10-year career at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) where he developed extensive expertise in selling and delivering e-business solutions to the global financial services market. Mather next served as Managing Director of efinanceworks, a venture capital firm focused on identifying, investing in, and growing e-finance firms. In 2000, Mather became part of the executive management team of one of these firms, mPower Europe, a leading Internet-based investment advisory company, where he led client services for the finance practice.
